The Dusty Shed Builds Planters for Community at CAER Heritage

Community growing made easier for families and little ones to discover the joy of growing.

Something exciting is growing at the CAER Heritage Centre! The team at The Dusty Shed were invited to design and build a set of brand-new two-tiered planters for our garden space – and they look fantastic.

Shed members build planters.

“They look great!” says Frankie, Lead Volunteer with the CAER Heritage Gardening Group, who meet every week to care for the gardens. “They’re just the right size for our young gardeners. We’ll be able to show little ones how to plant things themselves.”

The planters have been specially designed so that toddlers – along with their parents and carers – can get hands-on with gardening. With playgroups using the centre every week, the garden will soon be buzzing with children planting courgettes, French beans and more. To make it even better, trellises will be added for climbing plants, and fruit trees – cherry, pear, apple and plum – are being planted between the planters.

It’s all about creating a fun, welcoming space where families can enjoy gardening and growing together.
